Description:

KEM PR – 4820 is a highly efficient desalting aid for electrostatic desalters in refineries. Originally designed for use with heavy Western Hemisphere crudes, it has also proved very effective with the normal crude slates of typical European refineries.

Chemical Description:

KEM PR – 4820 is a blend of surfactants in water.

Product Application:

    • Continuously inject KEM PR – 4820 desalting aid at a rate of 3-15 ppm based on the volume of crude to be desalted.
    • It can be applied in the normal way by injecting into the wet crude as far ahead of the desalter as possible.
    • Alternatively, for maximum efficiency, injection via the wash water stream is recommended.
    • Adequate wash water must be added (3-7% of crude throughput), and efficiently mixed into the crude.
    • Primary and secondary wash water additions may be used if desired.

Recommended Uses :

KEM PR – 4820 is recommended for use to reduce salt and water levels on single or double stage desalting equipment. KEM PR – 4820 is formulated to handle a wide range of crude types.

Material Compatibility:

KEM PR – 4820 is soluble in most refinery waters. It contains no organic halides, heavy metals or other substances known to be harmful to refinery catalysts or process equipment.

Health Information:

Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames. Avoid prolonged and repeated skin contact. In case of contact with skin or eyes, flush the exposed area with water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician. Also avoid breathing mists and vapors. Please refer to Chemical Handling Data Sheet.

Storage/Handling:

Keep containers closed to prevent product contamination and evaporation. Use with adequate ventilation. Observe any warning labels on product container. Other normal precautions for process chemicals apply.
